Help Create NAF's Professional Development Blog by stevemarkbreiter

Teachers and administrators are often dissatisfied with school/district professional development offerings. If an administrator or policymaker asked you how professional development for teachers could be improved, what would be your advice? Alternatively, what sort of PD experiences have you had that really worked and benefited your instruction that you would like to see more of?

NAF is seeking to expand its academy development and capacity building offerings for network members, including teachers, directors, administrators, and partners. Our challenge is figuring out what services and structures will be most appropriate, given the breadth and diversity of the NAF network.

As part of this process, we are interested in the reasons why you may or may not choose to participate in NAF professional development and capacity building opportunities, as well as your experience with such activities beyond NAF. We have created a survey to obtain your thoughts on this question, so that NAF can design programs that are most appropriate for your needs and your situation.

The survey link can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=8x_2bTE05lJ8nzJv5zDTGnkw_3d_3d .

Please take the time to fill out the survey, as your input is critical to helping NAF figure out what works best for you.

All NAF network members are encouraged to submit a proposal to present a session at the 2009 NAF Annual Institute for Staff Development. Submit the proposals as e-mail attachments to Steve Markbreiter (steve@naf.org), by February 27, 2009. Proposals received after that date will not be considered.

Any proposal submitted must relate to at least one of the following areas:

- Curriculum and Instruction

-  Internships

- Advisory Board Development

- Academy Leadership

- Students and Alumni

To submit a proposal, you need to fill out a brief form, which you can access via the link below.
